RE: Review: Best TV converter box IMHO

Just TRIED to install new DTVPal plus from DISH......FAILURE!!!!!.....the box would NOT respond to any command from the remote (even on/off)...it showed it was on (green light) but NO response to ANY buttons on the remote......DISH tech support gave up after 30 min and said "replace it".....new one coming ...just curious if this is commonplace or just a "fluke"...noticed the remote was made in China...oh oh

RE: I'm confused on my 50amp, please help

IMHO......K I S S.....we have the 50A cable to our unit (single A/C) and use the dogbone 50-30 adapter for use even in campgrounds and use all the units we need at one time without tripping any breakers or fuses.......I personally wouldn't mess with ANY 4-prong outlet that I was unaware of the wiring schematic...have heard on this forum of people frying electronics by using an "outlet" they weren't familiarwith.....for what it's worth

RE: Windshield has crack-now what?

A glass tech. should be able to drill at the end of the run to stop it. I have done it several times so the person can make it back home to have the repair done.
Did just this 2 years ago while travelling thru Kansas......hasn't moved "much" (about 1/2")since....it was at bottom edge and out of line-of-sight so haven't bothered with it...IMHO, of course
BTW as posted before mine, it has turned to the side

RE: What to use on Windshield?

Use Wash/Wax routinely when washing ENTIRE unit for bug removal, HOWEVER, RainX, though pricy, works wonders when driving in rain conditions...usually don't even need wipers, just rolls right off..... IMHO, of course

RE: Storage and Putting Something Under Your Tires

IMHO, of course......this whole thing about parking is a little overrated......built "carport" for the unit with concrete pads levelled for parking......unit out every 4 to 6 weeks to "exercise", tires fully inflated and jacks "up"....four years and Michelin tires have no checking or "flat" spots.....lucky? I don't know, HOWEVER.....makes one wonder.....

RE: ULS Fuel Got Me Too

Use Bio Blends, this keeps the seals from drying out. Every manufacturer I talked to said you can use 20%. Its better for the engine also (unless it is a 07-up)
thought I saw somewhere that use of biodiesel would void the Cummins warranty....any truth in that?????

RE: Diesel less than gas?

As of Wednesday diesel $3.71/gal, regular gas $3.32/gal at our nearest native American reservation....those state taxes DO add up, don't they??? IMHO, of course

RE: Refrigerator issue

Hope FIL's Dometic hasn't succumbed to the dreaded "failure" that Dometic "supposedly" has properly rectified by doing their "upgrade" to those refriges that have had unit failures....last I heard they had recalled 900,000+ for the "fire shield"....mine was one of them (recently replaced with NEW unit at my cost since noone holds Dometic responsible for selling inferior products).....if you find yellow residue in the outside access area you've got the "bug".....check Dometic website for serial #s of those units...GOOD LUCK!!!!!

RE: insulating water hose

We see a lot of heat tapes sold around here that contain an in-line thermostat so the heat shuts down if above 55 degrees.....just lay along the hose (not wrapped) and then wrap with an adhesived insulation that comes with the tape....works great for outdoor hydrants also....IMHO, of course

RE: New Tires for Class A DP

Go find a truck stop parking lot and look at some tires. Think you will be surprised. What truckers run would have no bearing on what you need for an RV. Two completely different needs and uses.
Aren't we on the same roads and driving under the same conditions???? Got my last set of fronts at a truck tire distributor and they're the same as OTR truckers use. They're holding up quite well, thank you. IMHO, of course...

RE: FORD mechanic almost rolls my MH!!

Another good example for ALWAYS "checking out the unit" before leaving the "service" facility......their claim now COULD be that you did the damage yourself AFTER picking up the unit and are trying to blame them. How to prove otherwise????? IMHO, of course
